This video is for Kelly in the Marmalead facebook group, because she wanted to know if you need to put your “best” keyword at the front of your Etsy titles.
The answer is not for SEO purposes, but yes for customer purposes…
Her question came from the way that Etsy search analytics is reporting which words were used to find your listings. When I looked into it, its obvious that there’s something wonky about the way that search analytics is reporting the terms that were used to find the listings. I assume that this is just because Search Analytics is still in beta and they’re working out the bugs.
I found a bunch of examples that show that Etsy is reading the entire title and using the keywords in it to find listings, even if they’re not reporting those title keywords as the ones that were used to find the listings. So I think it’s just because the kinks are being worked out, and I’d warn people not to go and make huge changes to their shops based on the Search Analytics data they’re seeing at this point!
